This weekend was filled with joy, love, and celebration. As my birthday is just five days apart from my daughter's, I decided to turn our special moment into a memorable occasion by hosting a charming Tea Party for Two. It was a perfect way to celebrate her turning two and my milestone birthday all at once.

I put a lot of thought and love into creating sweet surprises and little touches to make the day truly unforgettable for us. In this post, I’ll share the details and ideas behind this heartfelt celebration—because sometimes, simple moments shared over tea are the most meaningful of all.

Enchanting Decor Tips to Make Your Tea Party for Two Truly Unforgettable

For the overall atmosphere of our Tea Party for Two, we chose to host our celebration at Wisteria Lane, a charming new venue located right in the heart of Tulsa.

As a partner with Wisteria Lane for soft play setups, I already knew it was the perfect spot to create a memorable event. The venue’s stunning chandeliers, a gorgeous purple focal wall, glittering flooring, and delicate floral walls provided an enchanting backdrop for our tea party for two.

To enhance the whimsical and elegant vibe, I chose to incorporate a soft pastel color palette, focusing on pink, purple, and blue. These gentle hues added a touch of sweetness and femininity to the decor.

Wisteria Lane also offers fantastic add-on options like chargers, chair sashes, elegant napkins with rings, and beautiful centerpieces, which helped elevate the setting to a regal level. Thanks to these elegant touches, the venue’s charm, and the lovely pastel colors, our tea party for two felt like an occasion fit for royalty—making it an unforgettable experience for both of us.

Regency & Victorian Chic: Transforming Our Tea Party for Two into a Royal Wonderland

While the overall theme was a charming tea party for two, I wanted to add some personalized touches that truly reflected our personalities. For the adult part of the celebration, I decided to incorporate my love for Bridgerton, one of my favorite book series.

The Regency era has always fascinated me, and I adore these romance novels. To bring this theme to life, I included some of my Bridgerton books in the centerpieces, alongside elegant teacup appearances that held sugar cubes, adding a delightful Victorian-inspired detail.

Each table also featured a “Lady Whistle Down” column titled Spill the Tea, where I shared funny story updates about our family and daily life. These playful elements added a touch of Regency charm and humor to our tea party for two, making it a truly unique and memorable celebration that combined elegance with a personal twist.

To infuse a whimsical yet classical Victorian-era charm into our tea party for two, I decided to draw inspiration from Alice in Wonderland—a perfect theme to celebrate my daughter’s special day. We created a Mad Tea Party table adorned with charming plates and playful decorations that brought the fantastical world of Wonderland to life within a Victorian setting. Check out these adorable plates through Amazon and add them to your next tea party celebration.

Fun signs next to the drinks added a playful touch, with sayings like “This one makes you taller” and “This one makes you smaller,” delighting guests of all ages.

The highlight of the party was a delicious assortment of Wonderland-inspired teas, carefully selected to fit perfectly with our theme. These whimsical brews and enchanting details captured the magic of Alice’s adventures and the elegant Victorian era, making our tea party for two a celebration filled with fantastical fun and timeless charm.

Sweet & Savory Delights: Indulging in a Culinary Wonderland at Our Tea Party for Two

No tea party is complete without a delicious array of treats, and ours was no exception. For our tea party for two, I catered a selection of savory bites and sweet indulgences that perfectly complemented our elegant themes.

For the savory side, we had an assortment of delightful options. The star of the savory offerings was the Tea Cup Charcuterie Cups, filled with an assortment of cheeses, meats, and crackers, combining elegance with ease of pairing. We also included macarons and cake pops, which added a sweet touch to the savory platter.

Homemade Chex Mix provided a crunchy, nostalgic snack, and a flavorful Alouette cheese spread with crackers was perfect for easy noshing. And of course, the staple of any charming tea party—the classic Cucumber Tea Sandwiches—were fresh, light, and wonderfully refreshing.

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 4 tbsp real mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp minced dill

  • 2 tbsp chopped chives

  • Everything bagel seasoning

  • 12 slices whole wheat bread

  • 2 English cucumbers, sliced into 54 thin rounds

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, minced dill, chopped chives, and 2 tbsp of everything bagel seasoning until well combined.

  2. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto four slices of bread.

  3. Arrange the cucumber slices evenly over the cream cheese spread on each slice.

  4. Lightly sprinkle additional everything bagel seasoning over the cucumbers for extra flavor.

  5. Top with the remaining slices of bread, and gently press down.

  6. Carefully cut off the crusts from each sandwich to give a neat, refined look.

  7. Cut each crustless sandwich into four triangles, creating a total of 24 elegant finger-sized pieces.

Tip: For the best results, prepare the sandwiches 1 to 2 hours before serving. Keep them refrigerated until ready to enjoy to maintain their freshness. These classic cucumber tea sandwiches are sure to be a delightful highlight of your tea party for two!

In addition to the traditional treats, we also had adorable Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches for the kids, crafted with heart-shaped presses and cut into small hearts to add a whimsical Wonderland touch. These playful treats not only delighted the little guests but also brought a fun, magical vibe to our celebration.

Regal Delights: Cakes Fit for Royalty at Our Tea Party for Two

It has become somewhat of a cherished tradition for me to make my children's cakes and cupcakes, not because I am a professional baker, but because I truly believe in the magic of baking with love.

This started when I struggled to find store-bought treats that met my expectations—either in flavor or in ingredients—and I quickly realized that I enjoy the richer, more satisfying taste of homemade baked goods.

Typically, the cakes I prepare are small 6-inch size, just enough for my child to blow out their birthday candle. Afterwards, we take the cake home and enjoy it as a family, creating memories together. Since my daughter has a lactose issue, I always opt for a special icing that is easier on her tummy—Miss Jones icing—so she can enjoy the celebration just like everyone else.

For my daughter’s cake, I decided to incorporate Chessman butter cookies, which not only added more of the color scheme but also fit the theme beautifully. Overall, I think the cakes and cupcakes were not only visually stunning but also made with love—exactly the way birthday treats should be. We adored this butterfly candle. Get yours today here

This year, I added some adorable edible butterflies to the cupcakes. In the past, I’ve made paper toppers, but I couldn’t resist these realistic-looking edible butterflies. I expected them to taste slightly sweet, but they actually taste just like paper—light and almost flavorless, which made them a perfect, whimsical touch. Add them to your Amazon cart today! Magical Moments: Captivating Entertainment That Brought the Party to Life

While the tea party itself was a charming experience, we knew that with so many little guests, some fun entertainment was essential to keep everyone engaged and smiling. For the adults, I curated a Bridgerton playlist featuring beautiful background music—popular pop songs reimagined as classical melodies with stunning instrumentals. The elegant tunes set a sophisticated and relaxing mood, perfect for sipping tea and chatting.

Since I own a soft play and balloon business, I was able to creatively incorporate these elements to create picture-perfect photo opportunities for my family. I set up a “Happy Birthday” Chiara wall, using my favorite soft colors—baby pink, seaglass blue, and lavender purple—decorated with delicate silk florals. The scene was both vibrant and whimsical, making it a lovely backdrop for photos. We had the most lovely tea party! Our dresses were perfect, and I’m excited to share them with you. Check out my dress here, and my daughter’s dress here.

For the little ones, the fun continued with the white bounce castle, decorated with a pretty garland, providing a delightful space for play. They also enjoyed splashing around in a ball pit, which was a hit for safe, energetic fun. Whimsical animal hoppers featuring the caterpillar and white rabbit added an adorable Wonderland touch, perfectly tying into the theme.

Final Thoughts

While I don’t usually go all out for my birthdays, I felt this was the perfect opportunity to indulge in a beautiful shared celebration—a special memory for my daughter and me, since our birthdays are only a few days apart. One of my favorite keepsake gifts from this occasion was a mother-daughter tea cup set, a Cherished memento that I look forward to creating many more memories with in the years to come.
